Author of the Month - Nathan P.

By Emma Gutierrez / December 07, 2022

To round out the year, our December featured author is Nathan! He is a seasoned Lulu Junior author, writing four other stories! Today, we are featuring his recent story, “The Butterfly” which takes us on a journey among new friends with an unexpected ending. Keep reading to find out about these new friends!

There once were two friends, an owl named Owley and a chick named Billy. They were outside when Billy said, “There’s a caterpillar in the tree!” Owley looks up at the caterpillar. “My name is Code,” shares the caterpillar.

Code eats apples, peaches, pears, and grapes. Owley and Billy watch as Code the Caterpillar builds his cocoon and eats his fruit.

Code stays in his cocoon for two weeks. After two weeks, he comes out as a butterfly! Owley said, “I wish Code was still a caterpillar.”

Billy went to his family and asked if he could keep Code the butterfly. The hen said yes and Billy took care of Code and they played together.

Owley goes to look for Billy and Code so they can all play hide and seek together. But they aren’t anywhere to be found.

Owley begins to cry. A goat comes up and says to her, “why are you crying?” Owley responds that she is crying because Billy and Code aren’t there.

The goat looks everywhere also, and can’t find Billy and Code either. She even looks in the henhouse but doesn’t find them. Turns out… they are on an airplane!

The goat tries to jump up at least 15 times to reach the airplane, but with no success. She jumps as high as she can, but is unable to reach the plane. The plane is gone. And sadly, the goat begins to cry too. No hide and seek for the goat or for Owley.

Thank you Nathan for letting us feature your fun story!
